At constant exchange rates
Sales for Naturex over the first half of 2003 totaled EUR 14.1 million, representing growth of 4.4% at constant exchange rates. As such, growth for the first half of the year was slightly down on the growth recorded during the first quarter of 2003, notably due to the particularly strong level of activity enjoyed by the Group in the second quarter of 2002. Given the sharp drop in the dollar (1.115 in H1 2003 as against 0.899 in H1 2002, i.e. -20%), sales were down 7.9 % over the period.
The Flavourings and Food industries accounted for 53.9% of the Group's activity, with its Nutraceutical and Extraction activities accounting for 40.4% and 5.6% respectively. Sales realized in the United States and Canada accounted for 46.8% of total sales, with sales in France and the European Union accounting for 12.2% and 32.2% respectively.
